SMS Privacy Notice

This notice describes information processed in connection with SMS messaging supported by Burse. It is limited to the Burse SMS program and is not a general website privacy policy.

Information processed

Depending on the participating healthcare organization and its program, information processed may include mobile phone numbers; consent and opt-out records; inbound and outbound message content; message timestamps and delivery information; organization and program identifiers; information used to route reply notifications; and audit records.

How the information is used

The information may be used to transmit messages, receive replies, document consent status, process opt-outs, route notifications, troubleshoot delivery, secure and operate the service, maintain records, and meet contractual or legal obligations.

Healthcare organization and service providers

The Numeracy Group generally processes SMS information on behalf of the participating healthcare organization. Requests concerning that organization’s records should ordinarily be directed to the organization identified in the message.

Approved communications, hosting, and technology providers may process information as needed to deliver, secure, maintain, and support the service. Mobile information and SMS consent information are not sold or shared with unaffiliated third parties for their marketing or promotional purposes.

Retention and security considerations

Information is retained according to applicable client instructions, agreements, legal requirements, and approved retention schedules.

The Numeracy Group uses safeguards intended to protect information, but no system or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Ordinary SMS messages may appear on devices, lock screens, device backups, and carrier systems. Consider who can access your device when using SMS.
