About the program

Burse enables participating healthcare organizations to send healthcare-related informational messages to their patients, members, authorized representatives, or other permitted recipients. The participating healthcare organization is the message sender and is identified in the message or program context. The Numeracy Group provides the Burse technology platform used to support messaging.

Messages may include care-management outreach, appointment reminders, scheduling or confirmation information, primary-care or care-team follow-up, and requests to contact the healthcare organization.

Replies, urgent needs, and delivery

Replies are not continuously monitored. Do not use SMS for urgent medical needs, emergencies, or time-sensitive clinical communications. Call 911 or the appropriate emergency service for an emergency.

SMS delivery is not guaranteed and may be delayed or unavailable because of carrier, device, network, or service conditions.

Questions and support

Questions about care, enrollment, your mobile number, or communication preferences should ordinarily be directed to the participating healthcare organization identified in the message. Reply HELP for the program-specific assistance information supplied by that organization.
